It’s so easy to clean a NOVA bath seat! Especially since we designed them to be hygienic and rust-resistant. All you have to do is give the bath seat a scrub-down using warm water and distilled vinegar. A weekly cleaning will help your loved one enjoy their baths.
Everyone should be able to practice good hygiene, but people who are dealing with limited mobility—especially older adults—may find it more difficult to take regular baths.
Bath seats make bathing and showering safer and more comfortable, but only if they’re frequently cleaned. Dirty bath seats, with grime or mineral deposits, can create health risks and also make the person you’re caring for less interested in bathing.
How Often Should I Clean a Bathtub Bench?
It’s best to clean a bath seat once per week. A weekly cleaning will prevent buildup of soap and mineral deposits, keeping the bath seat looking fresh and clean.
NOVA bath seats are made from very high-quality materials, including rust-resistant aluminum and numerous drainage holes, so they are ideal for your loved one. We also offer several hygienic bath chairs with U-shaped seats that offer a more sanitary bathing experience.

Why Should I Clean a Bathtub Bench?
Good hygiene is an important aspect of our health and happiness. Keeping the bath seat free of grime and bacteria can prevent your loved one from contracting infections or illness while bathing.
A clean bath seat is also more enjoyable to use. Unfortunately, people with limited mobility may try to avoid regular bathing—getting in and out of the bathtub is difficult enough, and an unclean bath seat only adds to the displeasure.
A clean bath seat is healthier and makes the bathing experience more pleasant and comfortable.

How To Clean a Bathtub Bench
Cleaning a NOVA bath seat is super easy! You only need a few simple cleaning supplies:
- A clean sponge or cloth
- Soap
- Distilled vinegar
- Spray bottle
Cleaning the Bath Seat – Instructions:
- Fill the spray bottle with a mixture of warm water and distilled vinegar. A good rule of thumb is to use 3 cups of warm water and 1 cup of vinegar. Shake the bottle to make sure they mix well.
- Spray the bath seat with the mixture (make sure you also get the bottom of the legs).
- Scrub the bath seat with a sponge or cloth. Don’t use an abrasive tool, like a stainless steel scrubber—you don’t want to scratch the seat.
- Remember to lift up the bath seat so you can clean the bottom of the rubber tips.
- Don’t forget to clean the underside of the bath seat and the drainage holes.
- Rinse the bath seat and let it air dry.
Cleaning the Bath Seat After Every Use
For best hygiene, clean the bath seat gently after every use. Use a sponge or cloth with mild soap and give the seat a quick wipe-down. Then, rinse it and let it air dry.
